STEPHANIE LAMPREA, SOPRANO | BAICHUAN HUI, PIANO
Stephanie Lamprea and Baichuan Hui are a Scotland-based soprano and piano duo, having embarked on a collaborative journey since 2021. Their shared passion lies in unearthing lesser-known, contemporary, and female-centric repertoire, which they showcase through their performances. Additionally, they aim to push the boundaries of collaboration between voice and piano, exploring innovative approaches in timbral and extended techniques for both instruments.
Their repertoire spans across various genres, including classical, contemporary, free improvisation, and melodrama for recitation and piano. Throughout their journey, Stephanie and Baichuan have actively engaged with emerging and established composers such as Aida Shirazi, Erin Thomson, and J Diaz, whose duo was commissioned by Sound Scotland. They have presented these fresh compositions at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, captivating audiences with their unique interpretations. As multi-genre artists, they have also collaborated with Scottish electronic duo Post Coal Prom Queen and delivered remarkable performances at renowned events like the Hidden Door Festival in Edinburgh and The Old Hairdresser's in Glasgow. Notably, they had the privilege of performing the Scottish premiere of Viktor Ullmann's melodrama, 'Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke' (12 Pieces from the Poem of Rainer Maria Rilke).
Stephanie and Baichuan are both doctoral candidates pursuing their Doctor of Performing Arts (D.Perf) degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; through their combined practices and research, they exemplify the spirit of artistic exploration and dedication to unearthing hidden treasures within the realm of voice and piano performance. |
