Overview

My portfolio submission for the degree of Doctorate of Performing Arts consists of three Artistic Projects, one Development Project, and one written commentary. In assessing my work, feel free to view or listen to my Artistic and Development Projects, and then read my commentary. The commentary is divided into chapters that discuss elements of voice and embodiment, and the projects are mentioned in these parameters throughout the writing.

You can find these items either by selecting the buttons above, or scrolling down this webpage. Alternatively, here is a Dropbox Folder which contains all items submitted for assessment:

Artistic Project 1: Recitations in Motion
Stephanie Lamprea, soprano and dance artist | Penny Chivas, dance artist

Recitations in Motion is a 52-minute staged multidisciplinary performance of Georges Aperghis' 14 Récitations for solo female voice. For this project, I created a studio album recording of the 14 Récitations, and I incorporated my experiences in this work into a staged production. I submit a multi-camera video recording of Recitations in Motion below for doctoral assessment. I also provide my studio recording for reference, as well as a link to a single-camera video recording of Recitations in Motion (in case you would rather view the performance from a singular audience viewpoint), the full musical score to the 14 Récitations, and a Dropbox folder containing all the M4V, WAV, and PDF files for this submission.

Feargus Heatherington, violin | Richard Craig, flute | Darren Gallacher, percussion

Ipsa Dixit is a staged chamber opera composed by Kate Soper, written for soprano, violin, flute, and percussion. For this performance (which lasts 60 minutes), I expanded the staging to incorporate multidisciplinary elements, and I added an additional actor/dancer to the production. I submit two multi-camera video recordings of Ipsa Dixit below for doctoral assessment; the first video documents the first half of the production, and the second video documents the second half. I also provide links to single-camera video recordings of Ipsa Dixit (in case you would rather view the performance from a singular audience viewpoint), the musical score to Ipsa Dixit, and a Dropbox folder containing all the M4V and PDF files for this submission.
